Central Ohio Saxophone Day
High School Competition
When: Saturday, May 11th, 2024 8:00am - 12:00pm (winner must be present to perform at the 7:30pm concert). Please register here by Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Competition times will be assigned and sent out at least 7 days prior to the event. Email [email protected] with questions.
Where: Buckeye Brass & Winds 202 N. Chillicothe St., Plain City, OH
Cost: Free!
Who: The entrant must be a current, full-time high school student at the time of registration.
What: The Classical Competition will be judged by Dr. Michael Rene Torres (Ohio State University) and Dr. Kristen Zelenak (University of Arkansas).
The Jazz Competition will be judged by Dr. Robert Brooks (Ohio State University) and Dr. Jordan VanHemert (Northeastern State University).
Requirements:

Each entrant will perform two different selections for the competition. They are responsible for performing the melody and an improvised solo on each selection. A rhythm section will be provided. All entrants will perform a Bb concert blues of their choice and a tune from the list below for a total of 2 selections. Each entrant will perform 2 unaccompanied alto saxophone selections.
